Roadmap

How SpecSense gets better
as AI advances.

AI acceleration is our supply chain, not our competition. Every model release makes SpecSense stronger without changing the buyer relationship. Here is what we ship next, and why.

Capability arc

5-year capability arc.

Now · 2026 Q3–Q4

Phase 01

Human-supervised review, oil & gas focus.

P&IDs, isometrics, datasheets, HAZOP registers. Discipline-specific check libraries for piping, process, mechanical, civil, structural. Chartered-engineer sign-off on every supervised review.

  • 48-hour supervised pilot as recommended entry point
  • 5 discipline check libraries (piping, process, mechanical, civil, structural)
  • Marketplace tier for solo engineers (£49–99)
  • Team workspace for continuous review (£1.5k–5k/mo)
  • Formal InfoSec policy set — Q4 2026

Year 1 · 2027

Phase 02

EDMS integration & enterprise-grade posture.

Direct integration into customer engineering document management systems. SOC 2 attestations. Regional data residency options. First indemnified sign-off contracts. First case studies published with major-EPC and Owner's Engineer references.

  • Aconex, Bentley ProjectWise, SharePoint EDMS connectors
  • SOC 2 Type I → Type II attestations
  • UK, EU, UAE data-residency options
  • First indemnified sign-off enterprise contracts
  • Published case studies with named EPC + OE customers

Year 2–3 · 2028–2029

Phase 03

Multimodal review — 3D CAD and laser scans.

As multimodal models mature, SpecSense reads 3D plant models, laser scans, and construction site photos with the same rigour it applies to 2D deliverables. This is a new product line, not a feature — construction QA and site-verification review.

  • 3D plant model review (SmartPlant, PDMS, E3D exports)
  • Point-cloud / laser scan verification against IFC design
  • Site-photo construction QA (weld quality, insulation, tagging)
  • As-built vs design walk-down automation
  • Aerospace pilot customer — extension into new vertical

Year 3–5 · 2029–2031

Phase 04

Agentic project participation.

SpecSense stops being a review tool and starts being a project participant. Sits inside the concept-select flow, flags mid-development, integrates with technical query registers, participates in review meetings via structured comment injection. Not autonomous — always supervised, always signed off, but continuous rather than gate-based.

  • Continuous project-level review (not gate-only)
  • Integration with technical query and MOC systems
  • Structured comment injection into review meetings
  • Predictive rework-cost estimation from findings velocity
  • Cross-project learning at the customer level (per-tenant)

Year 5+ · 2031+

Phase 05

Cross-vertical category leadership.

Oil & gas becomes one of five verticals rather than the whole business. Pharma GMP, medical device 510(k), aerospace certification, and nuclear safety-case documentation all use the same underlying platform with vertical-specific check libraries.

  • Pharma GMP deliverable review
  • Medical device 510(k) submission review
  • Aerospace type-certification package review
  • Nuclear safety-case documentation review
  • Regulatory body partnerships in 2+ verticals
Beyond oil & gas

Horizontal extension into other regulated industries.

The playbook is portable: any industry where engineers spend >30% of the week reviewing regulated documents is a candidate. We stay in oil & gas until we own it, then extend.

Ongoing

Market size

Regulated engineering doc review is a £3B+ global market.

Oil & Gas TAM (Y5)

£3B+

~950 tier-1 global buyers × blended £40k/yr per account at maturity.

Base-case capture

£30M ARR

1% share across regulated engineering by Year 5, via disciplined vertical focus.

Comparable

Harvey.ai

Legal AI analogue reached this trajectory in 24 months post-Series A.

Conservative case: 5% penetration by Y5 across the ~950 tier-1 oil & gas buyers → £1.9M ARR. Base case (10%): £3.8M ARR. Ambitious (category leadership): £8.5M+. Extension into aerospace / pharma / medical device / nuclear expands addressable market by an additional £3B by Y5. Harvey.ai proved the trajectory in legal in 24 months.

The tailwind

Why AI acceleration expands our market, not shrinks it.

Falling model costs unlock the marketplace tier at scale.

As inference costs drop, the £49–99 per-review tier becomes viable for solo engineers, dramatically expanding the funnel. Marketplace customers filter up into Team and Enterprise deals over time.

Multimodal opens new product lines at zero R&D cost.

The moment models read 3D CAD, laser scans, and construction photos reliably, SpecSense has a construction-QA product line without touching the check library architecture. The workflow, sign-off, and audit posture are already in place.

Agentic advances make continuous review possible.

Today SpecSense reviews at project gates. Tomorrow it sits inside the design flow, flagging issues as they emerge. The underlying engineering judgment does not change; only the delivery mode.

Regulatory acceleration is monotonic.

Every new safety case, every new NOC compliance regime, every new sustainability disclosure requirement adds documents. Regulated engineering document volume only grows, never shrinks.

The bottom line: regulatory acceleration means more documents needing review, monotonically increasing. Falling model costs unlock the marketplace tier at scale. Multimodal turns 3D CAD and laser scans into new product lines at zero R&D cost. Agentic advances turn SpecSense into a live project participant by Y3.

Get in early on the curve.

Pilot customers get pricing lock, roadmap input, and co-created case studies. First 12 accounts only.
